River
This river seems to flow not just by my side
But through my mind,
Washing my thoughts smooth
And creating a groove
Where softness resides
And peace comes to thrive,
And the ever-movement of the water and currents that swell and rise
Or reduce in size
Comforts me
As I witness the water be what it will be—
Utterly fluid in its unending flexibility,
With phases of torrent and times of tranquillity,
And I accept each moment as it comes and goes,
Hearing the babble, bubble, and rush as water flows.
Stress and anxiety diminish,
And the beauty of this river is that it never does finish—
Beginning as a blessing that arises from the ground
And ending in the ocean, where all water becomes one sound.
Thank you, river, for reminding me
Of the nature of flow, oneness, and infinity.
